Friends of London Breed

Got an interesting email invite: A group of the most pro-downtown, pro-landlord, conservative folks in town is holding a fundraiser for Sup. London Breed, who represents the most progressive district in the city.

Oh, and none of the members of the Host Committee lives in or has any direct connections to District Five.

The Feb. 25 event is at the home of Wade and Lorna Randlett. Wade Randlett is a scorched-earth political operative who created a group called SFSOS with the late Republican GAP mogul Don Fisher. His wife was the spokesperson for disgraced former school superintendant Arlene Ackerman. Randlett tried to shoot down a school bond after Ackerman was fired. He was the secret force behind an effort to recall former Sup. Sophie Maxwell.

Also on the list: Ron Conway and Anne Moeller Caen, who is a terrible, pro-PG&E member of the SFPUC.

Oddly, powerhouse lawyer Joe Cochette is on the invite, as is 49ers tight end (and generally cool guy) Vernon Davis.

Oh, and Mayor Ed Lee, who, I'm told, can't stand Wade Randlett. Which puts him in good company.

I called Sup. Breed and asked her about the event, and she told me she met Randlett working on the first Obama campaign, "and he volunteered to do this." She said she needed the money for office essentials like extra computer screens and a couch, and she has to pay off her inaugural celebration.

As she normally does, Breed went out of her way to say that her votes are not for sale, and that she won't do the bidding of the people who give her money. "If you want to hold a fundraiser for me, I'd be happy to take your money too," she said. As for a host committee that might be offensive to the majoirty of her constituents, she said "it is what it is."

In the end, of course, Breed will be -- and should be -- judged by her votes, not by her associates, and we'll have an excellent indication of where she's headed when Sup. Scott Wiener's TIC legislation comes before the board. But in the meantime, the reason this is all relevant (other than the fun of watching Ed Lee and Wade Randlett try to get along) is that it indicates that some very bad actors think (rightly or wrongly) that Breed is their ally.

Imposter troll: Your act is tiresome, stagnant, predicable, and boring. Apparently you sit around all day and night in your hospital ward room with that group rate and with lap top at your side waiting for this site to publish any article so that you can be the first to post (that's calling "top posting" and it's expressly prohibited by International Troll Society Ethics Guidelines) so that you can excrete your usual smug, elitist, snide, conservative hatred manure. This time, you are a little more toned down with your smug "listening to all sides" dump.

You might consider taking troll classes to improve your most remedial old school skills, if you can find one that will accept someone like you, pleb.

As for the article, thank you and yes it will be interesting to see where Ms Breed is going on this most septic Board of Supervisors.

Are you back to seek attention from Lucretia? Lucretia loves all her pets, the Greg pet and pet troll #12360969212 too. Lucretia will give you a little attention, perhaps throw a few bits of lobster your way. Lucretia loves her pets and they love her too. What Lucretia wants - Lucretia gets.

Looks like you're here 24/7 as well, just not as good or quick as the other guy

Posted by Guest on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 5:09 pm

I know....before they turn out the lights in your ward at 9pm, why don't you google basket weaving. I think you might be better suited for that instead of amateur trolling, pleb. I've suggested that to others in the past and was comforted to know that they took the suggestion and it's worked out nicely for them. You might even be able to sell your things in the hospital there (after you acquire the appropriate licenses and establish a fee structure, of course) for the hamlet in which you live. But do consider it, pleb. I wouldn't let this opportunity pass you by, if I were you. Sleep on it.

Lucretia will entertain her pet. Poor lonely pet.

they can work with Breed, because in the end it is the business community that provide the tax base and the funds to pay for the servcies that the city wants to maintain.

So a confrontational attitude in government towards business, which we might have seen in the unlikely event that the voters had voted for Avalos as Mayor, would not be helpful to either the city or to the residents of D5.

The voters gave Lee a easy and handsome victory when he stood on a pro-jobs, pro-growth, pro-business, pro-development platform. The least his underlings on the BofS can do is support that vision.

Troll hijack: residential property taxes and sales taxes--paid in full by residents, not corporations--funds the bulk of city government operations.

Posted by Guest on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 12:07 pm

enable them to pay their local taxes?

Posted by anon on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 12:24 pm

Most San Franciscans don't work in the City, right?

Posted by Guest on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 12:59 pm

But then again, many people work in SF who don't live here.

It's more helpful to think of the Bay Area as one big city, rather than get all Balkan about it.

Posted by anon on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 1:08 pm

Oh he did - it just broke his heart to have to warn her that she was wandering out of the progressive camp and she had better be careful - because there are long knives out in the San Francisco political world. It tore Tim up to have to do that - because he wanted Olague to succeed from day 1. Mmm hmm - yes he did.

Thank you Tim for working so hard to make sure things are done differently now that Breed has the seat.

Posted by Lucretia Snapples on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 11:56 am

He was a Ross fan, until AbuseAWifeGate devalued his currency.

He hated Olague and did not want her appointed to D5.

But then Davis self-destructed.

So Tim loved Olague.

Olague lost, no doubt in part because of the "kiss of death" in SF - a SFBG endorsement.

Now Tim just crows about his nostalgia for those 15 minutes whe progressives actually had any relevance in SF.

Posted by anon on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 12:27 pm

Tim is a hell of a lot more nuanced in his observations of people than the lot of you. Like any good (prog) journalist, he changes his views when the pols he's scrutinizing begin selling out progressives. Do us a favor...don't ever take up journalism. It's not your forte.

Posted by fille rebelle on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 2:11 pm

Olague
Avalos (for mayor)
Walker (for D6)
He got the D10 race wrong too - can't recall the names

He got Ross for sheriff right and he looked good in office for, hmm, 5 days?

Posted by anon on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 2:38 pm

Never, never, NEVER. She twisted her neck around like Linda Blair in the Exorcist trying to please Tim Redmond and Steven Jones but in the end, as Tim so woefully stated, it just broke his heart not to be able to endorse her.

Posted by Lucretia Snapples on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 3:02 pm
Posted by Guest on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 5:10 pm

But his tone changed quite a bit - he never came out and said it but he saw that the seat was in danger to falling to someone the Guardian didn't endorse, someone the Guardian actively trashed (London Breed) so he started up-talking Olague but they never changed their endorsement.

Posted by Lucretia Snapples on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 5:29 pm

self-destructed. How many voted is an SFBG endorsement worth anyway? Five? Ten? For which side?

Posted by Guest on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 5:49 pm

Davis but that wasn't in Olague's favor.

Yes, Tim and Steven really screwed themselves and their cause over with that fuck up.

Posted by Lucretia Snapples on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 6:06 pm

It's interesting that a person's race or sexual identification is a qualification for office when they are a doctrinaire progressive, but when they are not a doctrinaire progressive none of that matters.

Tim and the rest of the progressive intelligentsia are about getting over, there is no real goal but that.

Posted by matlock on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 7:51 pm

well enough to figure out if she'll go over to the dark side or not. Or perhaps she's already has?

Posted by sfsoma on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 11:59 am

Sometimes liberal; sometimes not. And Tim hates that because he does not want Supes who can think independently. He wants kneejerk liberal voter regardless of the issue.

Which is why Tim is losing influence by the day. He knows it and is just going thru the motions these days.

Posted by anon on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 2:41 pm

Basic message, London -- Tim is watching you. Think about that very carefully before you vote on Scott Wiener's TIC legislation.

Just a reminder -- you are in D5, the city's most Progressive district.

Has anybody EVER won an election in D5 without the full support of Tim Redmond and the SFBG?

Huh London? Can you name one?

Don't say that you weren't warned.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Posted by Troll on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 1:39 pm

There must be a lesson here somewhere.

Posted by Guest on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 5:04 pm

his own fundraiser for Breed rather than whining when others do.

But of course that would involve Tim getting up from behind that desk and actually doing something.

Posted by Guest on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 5:33 pm

Wade Randlett -otherwise known as "The Throat Ripper." Now there's a blast from the past! Perhaps it's fitting that he's on there. We all know what a class act London "go fuck yourself you fucking fuck" Breed is. And of course Randlett is famous for threatening to rip out Jake McGoldrick's throat. And Randlett was a big backer of who else? Back in the Ackerman days, didn't he help out Commissioner Pottymouth (aka Heather Hiles), best known for yelling obscenities at a fellow school board member... in front of schoolchildren.

Yep, classy all around.

Posted by Greg on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 9:30 pm

As classy as Progressive hero Chris Daly? Didn't he threaten to use the F-bomb in every single BOS meeting for his entire last year? Didn't he also threaten a cop outside of Hastings Law by telling him "do you know who the fuck I am? I'll have your fucking badge!!!"?

Posted by Guest on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 9:46 pm

The sadistic pig was using a common pig tactic. He was tacitly bending Chris Daly's thumb back as far as possible in order to cause maximum pain without being seen. From the standpoint of a casual observer it looks like the pig is just putting on handcuffs, but in fact he's sadistically causing pain in order to provoke an instinctive anger response in anyone getting that treatment. But you can't see that on camera -it looks like the person is resisting arrest, which of course is the whole point. You provoke the response, then pile on a charge of resisting arrest, and maybe battery on a police officer for good measure. Fucking pig SHOULD have lost his job.

Posted by Greg on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 10:05 pm

1 - You talk about the lack of civility with London Breed dropping F-bombs but you refuse to talk about Daly's promise to drop an F-bomb at every BOS meeting.

2 - If (and that's a big IF) the cop did wrench Daly's thumb, that still doesn't explain Daly's response of "do you know who the fuck I am???". He didn't scream in pain, he yelled that he's someone important and he doesn't deserve to have handcuffs put on him.

3 - You're hatred of cops still comes through with your calling them "sadistic pigs".

Posted by Guest on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 11:50 pm

Who but a sadistic pig would do something like that?

Posted by Greg on Feb. 09, 2013 @ 9:44 pm

Thank you!

London Breed shocks his white sensibility!! Her filthy mouth disturbs the pet!

Come to Lucretia my pet. She will sooth you. What Lucretia wants - Lucretia gets.

Daly was cheered by the Greg's.

Drunk midnight caller Peskin gets rave reviews.

Worst boss in Sacramento, meaning abusive, the mad driver of Sacramento, she gets glowing reviews from our progressives.

Greg is upset.

Greg can't even keep his self pity straight.

is so down on the cops, especially when he's white.

Posted by anon on Feb. 09, 2013 @ 1:16 pm

Yes, our old friend Arlene Ackerman, who held a press conference to celebrate the victory of her little puppet on the School Board (Commissioner Pottymouth), promptly canceled it when the votes came in and it became clear that voters had other plans, then decided that she'd take her ball and go home, promptly robbed the city blind for a fat severance check, then went on to Philadelphia, promptly got into conflicts with the board over there, and reached an agreement to resign from her position in exchange for a big golden parachute (sound familiar?).

Sounds like it was Ackerman's M.O. Do a job so lousy that everybody hates you so much they ask you to leave, and then hold up the city for money in exchange for doing so. Why is it that the 1%-ers always get *rewarded* for fucking up? Oh, and did I mention that along the way, she sued San Francisco for not paying her some of that big parachute?

What a turd she was, sitting there sanctimoniously quoting Maya Angelou while she stole from our children.

Ahh... but then fate intervened. Soon after her successful robbery of the Philadelphia public schools, she got cancer and died. You can't take it with you, Arlene.

Posted by Greg on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 9:44 pm

Yeah, I noticed that she died. No fond memories of her for me.

Posted by GrannyGear on Feb. 14, 2013 @ 10:20 am

Commissioner Pottymouth!

Posted by marcos on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 9:50 pm
Posted by Greg on Feb. 08, 2013 @ 9:57 pm

And Dan Kelly cut off my mic when I said it. That was after Hiles had lost at the ballot box and they were re-upping Ackerman's platinum parachute with her vote that would soon be gone. The contract included a compatibility clause which Ackerman promptly invoked shortly after the new progressive majority board was sworn in. Carlos Garcia eventually became superintendent and friction at the SFUSD between the Board and superintendent faded from the headlines.

Mark Sanchez was vindicated.

Posted by Guest on Feb. 09, 2013 @ 8:38 am

I watch and read more than listen.

Posted by marcos on Feb. 10, 2013 @ 6:13 pm

how is that even legal?

It represents an overt insult against democracy.

It's just another form of overlty high reverence being paid to top government administrators, just like their sky-high pay. A policy should be created against such practices if there isn't already a legal basis the city attorney failed to pursue.

And as for Ackerman and all her high-falutin' cohort of top S.F. administrators brought to us by "moderates" like Willie Brown, considering our track-record of hiring top-talent from afar, maybe these offices could be run by a team of middle managers for the same money and a whole lot less backtalk. We'd get more real-world experience that way.

Top management types typically have less respect for the lower tiers or work and workers and this attitude can often be observed carrying over to their relationship with the population they are employed to serve.

What do they really do? Is that extra layer of fat between politicians and the plebes who serve the rabble really necessary?

Posted by lillipublicans on Feb. 09, 2013 @ 10:33 am

Cut needless government bureaucracy and impose a true government of technocrats. What a moderate solution!

I think it could work for city college too. Fire the interim chancellor and the high priced consultants, and have the faculty senate elect one of their own to do the job. They could probably do a much better job for less.

Posted by Greg on Feb. 09, 2013 @ 10:09 pm

to balance the books. CCSF is far too bloated and the cost base is too high, especially the pension and healthcare entitlements of the staff. Start there.

Posted by anon on Feb. 10, 2013 @ 2:26 pm

A "Greg" wrote this up above:

"best known for yelling obscenities at a fellow school board member... in front of schoolchildren. "

GASP! Not in front of schoolchildren? GASP! GASP! GASP!

Even though the schoolchildren themselves likely use "F-bombs" on a regular basis and any other colorful language they choose to use. They likely know more words and use them than you do!

Some of you are stuck in the 1930-40s and are clueless as to what children know and learn today (among themselves especially). I have a relative who is a teacher and from what she has told me and other teachers have told her, "schoolchildren" in general are not the pearly innocent people you have this illusion of them being. I know the "what about the children?" card is dragged out whenever the prudes want to enforce their Victorian agenda and bring Topeka to San Francisco, but your act is getting tired, predictable and you're showing your ignorance of who and what "schoolchildren" really are today. Ride Muni on occasion after school hours. Learn something about the topic before you speak about it, plebs.
