A vote-fraud video primer

The Leland Yee campaign has produced a nice little video primer on the Ed Lee vote scandal. It's short, to the point, and gives you a sense of what has been going on with volunteers who are supposedly independent from the official Lee campaign. Check it out after the jump.

charge?" Or that other old favorite: "How to get caught stealing suntan lotion in Hawaii?" Personally I think "How to afford a $750,000 house in San Francisco while making $30,000 a year" is one a lot of people would be interested in seeing.

Those are all ads which would showcase Leland Yee's many talents.

We're talking about the essence of our democracy here, and you want to talk about sex and suntan lotion.

Well guess what? No one is buying what you're selling. These innuendos have been out there for years, and the electorate of San Francisco has repeatedly shown that they don't give a damn about it.

Hopefully they care about our democracy though. I hope it's not too late to derail the Brown Machine's coronation of Ed Lee.

and you'll see that on election day when Lee thunders to a resounding victory.

Yee's relentlessly negative campaign is doing nothing to dent Ed Lee but it's making Yee look like a first-class asshole who's giving no one a reason to vote FOR him - but every reason to not.

I don't think this story's going away though. That video could be a game changer. Whoever took that video is my new hero.

How many times did they lose again?

Posted by Guest on Oct. 24, 2011 @ 9:04 pm

Whole new ball game now...

Posted by 'anonymous' on Oct. 24, 2011 @ 9:07 pm

Oh sure, they committed fraud up the wazoo. But I never expected it to blow up in their faces because Willie was a professional. He knew how not to get caught.

But one video says a thousand words.

that a candidate is statutorily responsible if one of his campaign volunteers or workers commits a crime while performing their official duties?

Diane Feinstein's treasurer was recently arrested for embezzlement. Is Diane going to jail? Why was she not arrested along with the treasurer? What about all those other Democratic congressmen and women who the treasurer worked for?

How is Ed Lee going to jail? Does anyone have evidence that Ed Lee was conspiring with any of these people to commit a crime? Have any of them actually been convicted of committing a crime?

Posted by Guest on Oct. 24, 2011 @ 9:55 pm

In fact I said he won't. He should. But he won't. The big fish never get caught. People like Enrique Pearce go to jail. People like Willie and Ed don't. It's too bad, but that's our "justice" system. If I was the dumb little campaign hack who was directly on the scene, I'd go to the DA and sing like a bird in exchange for immunity right now. We all know that Ed (or Willie or Rose -same thing) put them up to it, but of course that's hard to prove in a court of law.

Court of public opinion is quite another thing though. Hopefully he'll lose his job over this.

Never mind your fervid fantasies about what "the electorate doesn't give a shit about".

Judging from the comments on this chronicle article the electorate is ready to run this crook out of town:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/10/23/BAMD1LLD04.DTL

And here's a new article that cites witnesses observing Ed Lee Campaign workers illegally handling and collecting absentee ballots:

Sucks to be you.

as a result of the illegal actions of his volunteers and/or paid workers?

Weren't Brown and Newsom also supposed to "go to jail" at some point?

Posted by Guest on Oct. 24, 2011 @ 9:32 pm

Oh - that's what I thought.

Posted by Guest on Oct. 25, 2011 @ 10:50 am

...who said there were no illegal acts in the video...??

Posted by Guest on Oct. 24, 2011 @ 8:01 pm

This is so depressing. The mayor is rigging the election.

Posted by Orlando Chavez, Jr. on Oct. 24, 2011 @ 8:04 pm

Orlando, the mayor has been rigging the election since the days when the mayor was Willie Brown. Remember ballots in the bay?

Well those days are back, and the Brown machine is up to their same old dirty tricks.

And while this has been simmering for a couple days, I've grown so cynical that I didn't think anything would come of it.

Ah but this time is different! This time there was a video!

The coronation may yet be derailed.

Posted by Greg on Oct. 24, 2011 @ 8:30 pm

question,

Is Kevin Yee the son or brother of Leland? Well, Kevin has a high position in the Leland Yee for ... (fill in the blank) ... campaign and Jim Stearns pays him big money. Where y'all think that money goes? I'm nearly cynical enough to conclude that enough of it found its way back to Leland to pay the mortgages on his millions in real estate holdings.

Greg and Eric, you need to get over to the Bay Citizen where the SS Leland Yee sailed out of port around 45 minutes ago.

If you boys are really getting paid by Yee you should be fired.

Know why?

Cause ...

I sank it before it reached the open sea.

Go Niners!

You'd think Leland Yee was Jewish, the way h. brown hates him.

Posted by Orlando Chavez, Jr. on Oct. 24, 2011 @ 8:33 pm

You just sound shrill and extremely desperate.

Posted by Guest on Oct. 24, 2011 @ 9:04 pm

For anyone who was naive enough to actually believe that this was not the plan from day one, when Mr Ed was conveniently out of the country and Slick Willie and Gavin the Greaser set the wheels in motion, DUH !!. The endorsement from Hairboy should remove any doubt. Paul Currier's comment in the Washington Post nails it when he refers to 'the criminal enterprise that runs San Francisco'..The City Familia.

Orlando,

Are you related to Enrico Vaselino? If so, ask your aunt about me.

you 'knew' his aunt also !!

I'm not going to vote for ed lee. this guy doesn't keep his words, how can san franciscans trust him?!!

Posted by John Womg on Oct. 24, 2011 @ 10:44 pm

nor is the SFBG. This is little more than an attempt to throw dirt and, of course, that always happens right before an election.

I've seen zero evidence that any of the voters who voted for Lee this way really supported another candidate. So even if you think this activity is borderline or marginal, the simple fact is that it hasn't changed a songle vote either way.

Again, any chance the SFBG could cover the issues and policies, and not this much? I'm very disappointed.

that you have even half a brain.

On the other hand, plenty of evidence that you are a fan of voter fraud.

Your argument is based on zero evidence.

Posted by Guest on Oct. 25, 2011 @ 7:14 am

Just muck-raking and partisan posturing.

But we can see which side is scared to discuss policies and issues.

Posted by Anonymous on Oct. 25, 2011 @ 1:23 pm

Municipal bank? Real Estate transfer tax? Local hire?

I know who I'm voting for.

Posted by Guest on Oct. 25, 2011 @ 7:12 am

Ed Lee is a spineless, habitual liar.
