MIDDAY MADNESS

Just when you think the brunch at Slow Club (2501 Mariposa, SF. www.slowclub.com) couldn't possibly rock any more than it already does, the perennial hotspot makes the move to offer it all week long. Really? For reals! You can have a fried egg sandwich for lunch, and you don't have to wait until the weekend for bourbon French toast. Available Mon–Fri 11:30am–2:30pm, and of course Sat–Sun 10am–2:30pm.Read more »

TABLEHOPPING If we were finance people, we'd say Q1 of 2014 was a hella strong start to the year. But since we're food people, we're just going to hook you up with our version of a PowerPoint slideshow of all the latest openings, hot spots, and new dish faves. Please, leave your Google Glass at home, turn off your iPhone flash when taking food pics for Instagram, and just dig in.

Some interesting openings this week, starting with Trou Normand (140 New Montgomery, SF. www.trounormandsf.com), inside the historic Pacific Telephone Building in SoMa. It's from Thad Vogler of Bar Agricole, so yeah, there will be awesome booze there. And good ice. Cocktails include Armagnac, Cognac, and Calvados. (Be prepared to throw back a traditional shot of Calvados, a French brandy, in preparation for or during a big meal to "make room" with "a Norman hole" — hence the name, Trou Normand).Read more »

TABLEHOPPING Not only is the Healdsburg area so damn beautiful (I'm talking about you, Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys) but there are some pretty fab dining and drinking options — and deals in the winter off season. There's always something new happening up there, so let's start planning your next overnighter.Read more »

People who consider themselves fans of prime rib (raises hand) will probably want to check out the version that's being made at Charles Phan's brand-new restaurant, The Coachman (1148 Mission, SF. www.coachmansf.com), now open in the former Heaven's Dog space in SoMa. Nope, no more Chinese food in that location, and Phan's not doing Vietnamese either.Read more »

There are a bunch of new openings to cover this week, starting with the new location of ICHI Sushi and NI Bar (3282 Mission, SF. www.ichisushi.com) in Bernal, which is double the size of ICHI's previous spot — and looking very spiffy. You'll find a 30-seat sushi counter in the front along with some table seating, plus an omakase counter, which will be reservation only. Read more »

We finally have some gray skies, all the better to contrast the megawatt Technicolor interior of the new Loló (974 Valencia, SF. www.lolosf.com) location on Valencia. The larger digs, now sporting 65 seats, also boast two bars — mezcal lovers won't want to miss the new nine-seat Agave Bar in the back.Read more »
